To Wonderful Skin: REN Omega 3 Overnight Lipid Renewal Serum

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Love, love, love this!  Makes your skin feel great and it doesn’t contain any petrochemicals, fragrances, parabens, etc.  Great compliment to the Wonderbar.  The only drawback: a slight fishy odor that surprisingly, you’ll get used to.  As for the person lucky enough to rest their head next to yours?  Well, we only give out skin care advice, the rest is up to you!

A pair of great products that go well with WonderBar!

ce ferulicI used to use this product a few years ago when I was trying to ”young” myself down before my 20 year reunion!  In fact, I had a whole slew of products I was putting all over myself…..I liked it at the time, but it felt distinctly like it was sitting on the surface of my skin.  Flash forward a few years and now I’m using the Wonderbar.  A beauty editor, who I had gotten to know over time through emails, asked me if she could use her favorite product, CE Ferulic, with the bar.  I said “no”, don’t use anything with the Wonderbar except for a plain moisturizer.  Always learning…….

I decided to try it myself, in the hopes that I could tell her further into her process that “YES!”, she could use her favorite product after all.  Well, I was adjusted to the Wonderbar at that point, so I bought some CE Ferulic.  The first thing I noticed was that my skin soaked it up like it hadn’t before.  It felt like a different product to me! :)   Now, after using for some time (in between removing the Wonderbar and applying my moisturizer (I’ll get to that next)), I love it.  Just adds a little extra oomph to my already glow-y skin.  And from what I understand, it adds extra sun-protection as well.  Gotta love that.  So, this is my official product recommendation.  Go get some CE Ferulic, it’s definitely good stuff.

Now on to the moisturizers- certainly a lot of great ones out there.  I bet I’ve only skimmed the surface, but for the time being, I’m hooked on Argan Oil.  It is not too greasy and it keeps me very hydrated, even during the brutal Winters we have here in Houston.  ;)   So, add this product, or any 100% pure facial oils to your list of moisturizers that work very well with the bar and do not break you out…

Please give me feedback on any products you have found that work well with the bar!  Love to hear your thoughts!!

Sephora’s nine “Best Sellers” in skincare all add up in their abilities to….well….ONE little Wondrous-bar!

The nine “top-selling” skincare products on the Sephora website claim to each do one or more of the following things:

fade pigmentation, shrink pores, improve clarity, treat acne, control oil and blemishes, improve appearance of age-related skin issues, reduce stretch marks, restore elasticity, firm and tone skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, moisturize, conquer skin damage……

They might do some of these things, but NONE of them do it all at the same time.  Which means of course that you aren’t getting out the door without two, three or even four products!  That is actually fine for some, people do like products.  The problem comes in when they spend a lot of time and money and ultimately don’t get the results they are expecting.  At least this is what I’m hearing from our clients.

Also, on the Sephora website, they have a list of ten areas of concern for the face, which can each be clicked on to show multiple product solutions for each area of concern.  They are as follows:

Enlarged blackheads and pores, breakouts and acne, dryness, oiliness, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and uneven texture, loss of elasticity, redness/ rosacea and sun protection!

Hmmmm, that’s all sounding a little familiar…almost exactly like the Wonderbar, which addresses NINE out of ten of them!  The tenth is sun protection and we just don’t do that- but a simple, effective sun block is easy to find.  SO, you can choose from HUNDREDS of products which may or may not address one or two concerns each, OR you can just buy a Wonderbar and an all-natural moisturizer or sun block and call it a day.

For now, let’s keep it between us that the Wonderbar is also a shampoo and scalp equalizer on top of everything else, we do NOT want to sound like we’re bragging! ;-)

Wonderbar + 100% Facial Oil= A very good thing

I posted a while back about the Sponge Ladi Avokanto, and while I liked it, it did end up breaking me out.  So now, instead of letting it sit unused, I use it on my arms and feet and it’s perfect…just not for my face.  I have since done more research on oils and different moisturizers and have been able to isolate at least one culprit: fragrance.  The difference between the Sponge Avokanto and say, the Josie Maran Argan Oil or Rodin Olio Lusso is the fragrance.  This explains why I can use the latter two and never experience even one clogged pore.

The Wonderbar does something, with regular use, that results in a totally smooth application of make-up, powder, serum, moisturizer etc.  It exfoliates the skin, yes, but it cleans out the pores too, allowing products to really soak in.  In the past, they all just seemed to just sit on the surface.   More evidence that the Wonderbar is a great decongestant…..

Sponge Avocado Oil is great with the Wonderbar?

sponge

I don’t know, but I’m about to find out…..just ordered it yesterday and can’t wait to try it with the Wonderbar.  Laurel Pantin at TeenVogue says it’s really great stuff and I’m always excited to try new things, so……I’ll report back soon!!

Been using the Wonderbar for 7 months……

and I am finding that I don’t need moisturizer!  I sleep with the Wonderbar on my face and neck and chest.  I always put the Wonderbar on the backs of my arms too.  It gets rid of those little bumps we all get.

When I wake up, my skin feels like I slathered some rich moisturizer all over the night before.  I think if you use the Wonderbar very consistently and correctly, your skin adjusts and begins producing it’s own natural moisture.  That’s pretty great…..now I’m literally down to a one-step beauty routine.

Why is my skin so dry only three days in and should I try to exfoliate?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: I have really dry skin to begin with and after using the Wonderbar for three days, my skin is uncomfortably dry.  I’m beginning to think it is not for me and that it would be better for people with combination or oily skin.  Have you heard this before and should I be using a scrub to remove the dry skin?

ANSWER:  I would like to assure you that the dryness you are experiencing is perfectly normal and will not last. It is part of the “Healing Phase” as your skin adjusts to the Wonderbar. Some clients may face initial breakouts too. We recommend that you do not stop using the bar until the this phase passes. You might notice redness, dryness, dry patches and mild breakouts.  With the initial use, you will see that almost like a mild chemical peel, the rate of cell turnover will speed up leaving a top layer of dry skin.  After 2-3 weeks, this will pass and the dead skin will come off on its own…leaving you with a balanced, healthy glow.  If you try to exfoliate, scrub, brush, slough or do anything else to remove the dry skin during the first few weeks, you could damage the skin barrier.  Think of getting a sunburn and trying to “scrub” it off…you wouldn’t want to do that for obvious reasons.  People do get anxious, but this is the time to just be patient and let the Wonderbar do what it’s meant to do.  A pure, hydrating oil or cream, or even Aquafor, will come in handy and can be used as much as you deem necessary.

After you have adjusted, pay attention to your skin and use as needed….some people use the bar once per day, while others sleep in it!  Everyone’s needs are different.

Which moisturizer works best with the Wonderbar?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: What moisturizer do you recommend?

ANSWER: We recommend that you stick with something all natural, non-toxic and chemical-free.  The Wonderbar itself is not “all natural”, but the few ingredients that are chemical in nature are extremely mild and non-hazardous.  A facial oil that is 100% pure (jasmine, sweet almond, jojoba, argan, apricot, evening of primrose, rose hip seed, arnica, calendula, neroli, sunflower, grape seed, hemp seed…) is always a good thing.  Be sure that there are no fragrances hiding in there, though…that’s not a good thing.  There are many creams and serums that work great too.  A 100% pure hyaluronic serum will lock the moisture in and there are many products that contain aloe vera which are both calming and hydrating (e.g. Jiade Cosmetics Truly Organic Night Cream).  RMS Beauty makes a raw coconut cream that is all natural and awesome not only as a moisturizer, but as a makeup remover too!  To see more natural moisturizing options for use with the Wonderbar, click here.  There are over 200 choices with a zero hazard rating, which is what you want.  This website is also a wonderful place to go when looking for non-toxic makeup and sun block.

Sunscreens and Exfoliates…with the Wonderbar?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: Can you use sunscreen with the Wonderbar? I normally use a light moisturizer with sunscreen, is that ok? Also, I normally exfoliate a few times a week, should I stop?

ANSWER: Yes, you absolutely can and SHOULD use a good sunblock.  Just make sure you aren’t using any products that contain chemical sunscreen.  Chemical sunscreen penetrates your pores and physical sun block sits on top of your skin and protects you from the sun.  Go for the physical for more effective coverage and for better results with the Wonderbar.

As far as using an exfoliate goes, the WONDERBAR already exfoliates your skin, so you don’t need one in the beginnning.  Let the bar do its job and do not be concerned about the dryness, it is happening for a reason and it will pass.  However, once you have adjusted to the Wonderbar and your skin is no longer in a dry phase. using a baby washcloth or a clarisonic once a week is fine and enhances the benefits of the bar. We do not recommend a ”scrub” of any type…these oftentimes have ingredients that are not compatible with the bar.  There are even clients who actually take the bar with them for use during microdermabrasion.  Remember, overdoing it is never a good thing, so just use your best judgement when adding an exfoliate to your WONDERBAR routine.  Everyone’s skin is different.
