twinkle, twinkle little bar, how I wonder what you are…

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

We wanted to address some of the questions that have been posted on a few skincare forums regarding the Wonderbar.  We’ve compiled comprehensive information on the product based on input from the creator, the manufacturer, customers, and our own 15+ month experience using Wonderbar. If you have additional questions or concerns, or if you have had issues with Wonderbar despite using the product correctly and consistently for the recommended six weeks, please contact us at info@wonderbarusa.com.

Many users will experience the normal symptoms of the healing phase (dryness, irritation, white bumps, breakouts, brown patches) before achieving the clear, balanced, healthy skin Wonderbar promises. If customers stop using the treatment before the healing phase is complete—or use incompatible products with the regimen—they will not experience the benefits of Wonderbar. It is imperative that users follow the recommended course to accurately judge its efficacy and see the dramatic results Wonderbar delivers.

Like an exercise regimen, Wonderbar requires commitment—if you give up after two weeks or “cheat,” it won’t work. Wonderbar isn’t a quick-fix solution or a one-time-use treatment—it’s as much a part of your ongoing health care regimen as a quality shampoo or a daily multi-vitamin.

The questions:

What is in the Wonderbar and what does each component do?

a) Patented Base: provides a mildly acidic, pH-balanced cleansing environment

b) Moor: provides gentle, natural detoxification

c) Exclusive Microalgae Extract: heals, nourishes, protects and moisturizes while promoting cell turnover

d) Olive and Chamomile Oils: protect and hydrate

What causes breakouts during the healing phase?

a) The Heilmoor clay in the Wonderbar detoxifies your skin and draws out toxins, which can cause breakouts as toxins are brought to the surface.

What are the toxins that the Wonderbar claims to purge?

a) Wonderbar draws out many of the toxins that skincare and cosmetics deposit, which can accumulate over long periods of time. The greater the buildup of chemicals under the surface of your skin, the more severe the healing phase. Thus, children or adults with “virgin” skin will experience a minimal healing phase.

Why does skin become dry and irritated during the healing crisis?

a) Dryness is a sign of skin’s healing process and occurs before skin reaches optimal balance. We recommend that you continue to use the bar during this time and complete the regimen. The dryness subsides with continued use and your skin eventually begins to produce its own moisture, restoring natural balance. A good basic moisturizer can help keep skin hydrated during the dry phase and is safe to use in conjunction with the Wonderbar.

Can the healing crisis cause rough brown marks to appear on your skin?

a) Yes, but these are brown patches of dry skin that eventually come off with continued use.

Does Wonderbar claim to get rid of Melasma?

a) No, we claim that the bar fades hyper-pigmentation. Customers have shared that Wonderbar heals Melasma, but it is not among our claims.

What drives the cell turnover when using the Wonderbar?

a) The Chlorey’nahre.

What is Chlorey’nahre exactly?

a) Chlorey’nahre (CLO) is the name for an exclusive combination of algae extracts combined with hMA, which is extracted specifically to formulate Wonderbar. Chlorey’nahre is the healing component of the product and is renowned for its ability to penetrate and heal the skin.

What happens to your skin if you leave the Wonderbar on too long?

a) Wonderbar acts as a powerful exfoliant, toner and cleanser in one. 3-5 minutes twice daily is all you need to heal and rebalance skin.  Due to the potency of the product, we recommend that you avoid actives such as retinols or other types of “acid” products—the combination is too harsh and irritating.

Have clinical trials been done with the Wonderbar?

a) No, our customer results speak for themselves.

What is Tiffany Masterson’s background?

a) As a partner in Wonderbar Distributors, I have received feedback from hundreds of customers and am extremely familiar with the proper usage and benefits of the bar. However, I am not a scientist or dermatologist; customers should also seek the advice of a dermatologist when necessary.

Is the Wonderbar the same bar as Eumora?

a) No, the Wonderbar is a more advanced and more effective formulation made by the same manufacturer.

WHICH MOISTURIZER AND SUNSCREEN SHOULD I USE?

a) A good rule of thumb in choosing a moisturizer (or sunblock) is to stick with one that has a sole purpose: in the case of a moisturizer, to provide a barrier that locks in moisture, and in the case of a sunblock, to protect.  Plain and simple.  Try to avoid moisturizers with added perfumes and chemicals, SPFs, retinoids, AHAs, Salicylic Acids, etc.  For sun protection, choose a physical sunblock with the active ingredients Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.  This will sit on top of your skin and provide a shield from the sun, as opposed to penetrating your pores.

and, last but not least, this question usually comes to us in the form of a scream through the phone…

WHY IS IT SO SMALL?!?!?

a) Precious things sometimes come in small packages.  The size is not at all indicative of the life of the bar.  It lasts a lot longer than it appears it would and it is not soap, so if thought of as soap, the size might disappoint you.  When people use the bar and see how long it lasts, they are delighted and amazed.

We hope this will answer some of the questions about our rising star, the Wonderbar.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if your question wasn’t answered.  Curiosity is a great thing and when it comes to the Wonderbar, it is clearly peaking off the charts!

Need to address this Mineral Powder and Wonderbar thing….

mineral powder

I am getting a ton of flack about recommending against the use of mineral powder in conjunction with the Wonderbar, and that perhaps I should not be doing so without backing it up with scientific data.  Also, I have received complaints from a few clients who insist that I consider that it might not be ALL mineral powders; only some.  I have to tell you, I’m no scientist, but I have seen this combination not work out so well, and even if it has only been a handful of times and doesn’t apply to every situation, I still feel obligated to disclose it. Trust me, using the two products together can be…..NO FUN.  I am talking about the breakouts that can occur.  Maybe it is not ALL mineral powders that cause this reaction when used with the bar, maybe only a few that have certain ingredients….or maybe mineral powders do clog your pores, maybe, just maybe, the wonderbar tries to pull the toxins out while the powder filling in your pores traps them in, resulting in cystic acne and infections just beneath the surface of your skin.  And maybe some people are more sensitive than others….or maybe the bismuth oxychloride is causing it.  WhatEVER it is, I’m going to warn you that it’s something you should watch for so you don’t think it’s some crazy allergic reaction.  If I see something that concerns me, you’re hearing about it whether I have data to back it up or not.  And if I’m wrong about something, I’ll correct myself……there is likely a lesson in there that we can all benefit from anyway.

SOOO, instead of saying “will cause”, I’m going to change the wording on our instructional handout to: “Please be aware that SOME types of “mineral” powders, when used in conjunction with the Wonderbar, CAN cause severe breakouts, which will impede the healing process.”  (incidentally, the Wonderbar/mineral powder combo almost landed my famously dramatic sister-in-law in a wheelchair from the weight of the cyst that formed on her cheek, but that’s a story I’ll let her tell you….perhaps I’ll create a guest blogger spot?!?)  OK.  I hope everyone feels better now.  Please make a note of the correction and let’s move forward…

Now, if you feel like you want to ignore everything I just said and decide for yourself, then keep reading…..here is a special report by Paula Begoun and Bryan Barron, two well-known experts in the skincare and cosmetics field.  Keeping in mind exactly how the Wonderbar works and potential ways the two could work against each other, please consider what will be best for you.  If you have been experiencing breakouts outside of the normal “adjustment period” range, read the report carefully and check to see if your makeup contains any of the ingredients mentioned.  Also, if you’re still feeling protective of your mineral powder, you can take it up with Paula and Bryan!  Be careful, though…they hang with the Mighty Opes. (When she’s not hanging with me, of course ;) )

Would you train for a marathon and stop at 13 miles because you got a cramp?

MarathonNewYorkJpeg

No, because that would be a waste of time.  But it’s the same thing as giving up on the Wonderbar at three weeks!  You are throwing your money away, not to mention denying yourself the gift of healthy skin.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “I’m dry, should I quit using this?” or “I’m broken out.  Does this mean I’m allergic?”  The answer to both would be no.  This is a process and it takes time.  People who give up at three weeks are misunderstanding what the Wonderbar is and what it does.  I understand that it can be uncomfortable and less than ideal to break out and get dry, but if you want to get the toxins out and heal your skin, then you have to run the marathon.

I have a friend who recently bought a Wonderbar.  She is a skeptic, it’s okay- I knew she would come around.  Anyway, she understood the product before she started.  I’d describe her as mentally prepared.  Mainly because she spent the weekend with me at the beach and listened to me talk to clients about the healing crisis the whole time.  So, when she got her first “cyst” five days in, she was so excited.  I got this voicemail and it said, “Guess what???? It’s working!!  I have a big pimple on my forehead and I’m so excited!!”.  I was immediately worried she would quit- some people do.  However, she hung in there like a champ and I have to tell you in all honesty, she has never looked better.  Her skin is even, balanced and the bumps and redness that have been there since college are gone.

Regarding that dryness people feel…..they tend to think immediately that it is a bad “dry”.  Like a soap “dry”.  Just to reassure you, it is not.  It is a good “dry”.  A healing“dry”, and necessary to the process I might add.  If you scraped your knee and it was red and raw, what would happen next?  It would get dry and itchy?  Then would it get darker and maybe turn into a scab?  Then it would come off and what might be underneath it all??  New skin would be underneath it all and the old damaged skin would be gone…….this is the healing process.  You can get dry patches with the Wonderbar and they can even turn a little brownish, right before they come off!  This would be an extreme healing crisis, but it happens occasionally and right where it needs to.  It happened to me on my neck and it only took 13 days for me to see healthy skin underneath…..others simply describe a tightness and dryness that subsides as their skin begins to find the perfect balance.

So hang in there, you are not alone.  There are hundreds of other faces running this marathon with you, but in this case, it doesn’t matter who gets to the finish line first……only matters that you get there!

break-up-main_Full

There is no easy way to say this, but it’s over.  I know we haven’t known each other that long, but when it’s not right, it’s not right.  I know you will make someone very happy, though, and I hope you know that I wish you the best.   We work against each other and every time I try to do my job, you come along and it ends in disaster!  We don’t work well TOGETHER.  You always seem to just want to cover things up, but I like to tackle our issues and get everything out in the open.  Almost every time there is really dramatic crisis, you are the culprit.  Frankly, you smother me too much and I feel the relationship is toxic.

So, I wish you all the best and I will hold the memories close- even though they are slightly traumatic.

Regretfully,

The Wonderbar

p.s. You can keep the acne, I always thought it liked you better anyway.

CONSISTENCY is the KEY to the WONDERBAR…..

Consistency

I want to tell you all about a “thank-you” email I received from a client.  She wrote that IF she had STOPPED using her Wonderbar at two weeks (which she almost did because of the dryness she felt), she NEVER would have believed that a product could change her skin SO dramatically….and for the better.  I know that there are many people who bought the Wonderbar in early 2009 and gave up simply because they didn’t understand the PROCESS.  Today, we send the following explanation out with every Wonderbar so that people will really understand the whys and hows…..and to send the all-important message:  “Hang in there! You won’t be sorry!”

PLEASE READ: VERY IMPORTANT TO YOUR SUCCESS WITH THE WONDERBAR!

The Wonderbar is an amazing thing and simple to use, but you must use it properly or you will never realize the many benefits!  It acts as a toner, cleanser, exfoliate and ultimately, a moisturizer- all of your skincare products in one!  It is suitable for all skin-types and is incredible on acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, large pores, hyper-pigmentation and more. Made of four different organic algae and Heilmoor clay, the Wonderbar detoxifies and literally “heals” the skin several layers down.   This process may initially result in dryness and a mild to moderate break-out.  It is referred to as the “Healing Crisis” and is an important step to bringing youthfulness back to your skin. We recommend that you continue using the bar through this phase….you will be very glad you did.  Some people never experience the “healing crisis” at all…as it is dependent upon the level of toxins in your skin and the healing that needs to occur.  Dryness and breakouts indicate the Wonderbar is doing what your skin needs.  Everyone’s skin is different, so every experience is a little different too.

To use, simply get the bar wet and lather in your hands, apply to face and neck and let dry for 3-5 minutes…morning and night, then rinse off.  This must not be done in the shower, as your skin will not dry and the bar won’t be able to permeate the skin.  Please be aware that some moisturizers with retinol, alpha hydroxy, etc. may be counteractive with the bar… a pure hydrating moisturizer, something plain, works best.  Also, we do not recommend using a lot of foundation.  It actually is better to use it as little as possible or not at all.  It is counterproductive to the healing/cleaning process.  Once your skin has adjusted, you should experiment with what works best for you.

The healing takes place in the weeks and months ahead.  The PH level of the Wonderbar is around 5.65- exactly the balance our skin needs. This is why, eventually, dry skin becomes less dry and oily skin becomes less oily.  It is also the reason that the Wonderbar cannot be categorized as“soap”. The longer you use it, the better your skin gets and with consistency, you will continue seeing benefits and changes in your skin, even after several months.  The end result?  Healthy, hydrated, balanced skin…..

Please call or email us anytime with questions or concerns….we love hearing about each person’s experience with the Wonderbar!

Tackle Problem Skin, Restore Balance with The Wonderbar!

beauty expose
January 3, 2010 by Allison Giuffre

wonderbarMy prejudice against all-in-ones started somewhere back in my childhood with Pert Plus shampoo/conditioner/does-absolutely-nothing-er and has since been solidified by the marketed marriage of hair care and body washes across the board. But my incessant traveling, nonfunctional (yet SO stylish) luggage and duty to BeautyXpose have collectively broadened my beauty horizons. So when limited luggage space inevitably questioned my judgment — bring along an adequate array of footwear, or pack my shaving cream, exfoliant, toner, cleanser, anti-wrinkle cream and moisturizer? — I conceded. It’s a good thing! The Wondeux Wonderbar, surprisingly, does wonders for your skin.

The tiny detox bar is packed with the essence of over 700 herbs and plants, 300-year-old Heilmoor clay, and four different organic algae. It’s marketed as ideal for all skin types, because continued use will bring skin back to its natural pH level – which, according to the brand, is 5.65. Oily skin becomes less oily, dry skin becomes less dry…you get the picture. Because of its pH level, the Wonderbar cannot be categorized as a soap. So instead, let’s just call it a multi-tasking miracle for problem skin.

To use, simply work the bar into wet hands. Apply the lather to your face (and neck, and legs, and elbows and bikini line) and let it dry for at least four minutes twice a day. Don’t try to do this in the shower, as it will never dry. If you like what you’re seeing, you can try leaving it on longer as a mask treatment, but I would suggest testing it out on the back of your hand first. Sure, the Wonderbar might smell like something from Aveeno…but it’s far more powerful, so be careful!

wonderbar3Be warned: There is an inherent “healing crisis” risk that comes along with the use of this product, because you know it sounded too good to be true. According to the brand, the dryness and breakouts that may occur “indicate the Wonderbar is doing what your skin needs.” Healing a skin crisis with another skin crisis? Sounds a little crazy at first, but it does makes sense. The bar is altering your skin’s pH level, and depending on what products you’ve used in the past, it may take some time to bring it back to “normal.” It should be noted that some people never experience this healing crisis at all, while others might endure it for weeks on end. For me, it was a dramatic three days of uncomfortable dryness that led to less visible pores and more visible radiance. Consistency is key – don’t give up.

If you’ve got troubled skin, a little hope and a lot of useless products, the Wonderbar should be added to your wish list. You can purchase your own online at Wonderbar USA; $40 will get you a 6-8 week supply, $105 will get you a 3-4 month supply and $140 will get you a 5-6 month supply. Perhaps a bit pricey, but you won’t really need anything else (save a pure hydrating moisturizer, perhaps, with no AHA).

Have you tried it? Are you trying it? Will you try it? Let me know how it’s working for you…even if you just need some moral support through your own healing crisis!

Wonderbar…..a “cult-following potential”? We think so.

A skin-refining slab that’s truly wunderbar

Posted Tuesday, December 29, 2009 by Marci Robin Zitner, NewBeauty Senior Online Editor

Every now and then, a new product shows up on my desk, and I can instantly detect its cult-following potential. It had been a while since those alarms went off, but then, the adorable and very aptly named wonderbar arrived.

I have a weird obsession with bars of soap, and before doing my research, I gladly assumed that the wonderbar was just another block o’ cleanser. In my defense, its charmingly unassuming presentation makes that an easy misinterpretation. But even though it lathers and cleanses, the wonderbar is way more than soap. In fact, it’s not soap at all.

There are two key ingredients in the wonderbar: chlorey’nahre and moor. The former is a special algae derivative, and the latter is an expensive Austrian mud (clay) that encompasses the essences of more than 700 herbs. Together, this blend is said to improve skin in almost every conceivable way: firming, minimizing pores, moisturizing, brightening, balancing, softening, fighting free radicals, controlling acne, lightening discoloration, reducing rosacea redness—you name it.

Sleeping with the Wonderbar? Only if your skin knows it well enough….

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

sleeping

I feel like I should revisit this popular topic.  I get too many phone calls and emails every day from people who are sleeping with the Wonderbar like a mask.  Is it okay?  Why is my skin so dry only four days in?  I’m really breaking out!  Is this normal?  Well, yes and no.  Yes, it is normal to get dry and breakout in the beginning.  Your skin is literally healing from the inside out……so the initial dryness is the algae talking.  The breakouts come from the clay working to detoxify your skin.  But you need to pay attention and if you feel like it is getting uncomfortable, then you should not be sleeping in it.  Your skin has not adjusted yet, but it will.  In the beginning, I told people to sleep in it and believe me, I learned my lesson the hard way!  I thought because I could, that everyone could.  “Not so”, said a beauty editor of a national glossy (after I had instructed her to sleep in it).  To sum up my experience: LEARNING!

The Wonderbar is very strong and it will do what it needs to do- it’s just a matter of how swift and hard you want it to happen.  I slept in it from the beginning and things were fine for me, but I have heard from the inventor in Malaysia that people who have worn make-up for a long time, simply have more toxins in their skin.  This makes sense.  Make-up and powders and creams and potions can sometimes clog your pores, thus holding the toxins in…….If you have worn make-up for years, perhaps you have years of toxins trapped in there.  Expect to break out a little more.  Sun damage?  Expect to get a little drier.  Or perhaps you just have extra dry and sensitive skin- you might get drier in this case, but this too shall pass.  Consider a baby’s skin, which has no skin damage or toxins…..the Wonderbar is sorta out of a job.  Your skin reacts to the Wonderbar based on exactly what YOUR skin needs.  Also remember that toxic skin will age faster, so you want those toxins outta there!

The safe answer is: only use the Wonderbar for 3-5 minutes twice a day.  This is really all anyone needs to get the job done….no sleeping with the Wonderbar until you are completely through the “adjustment” period.  You can have a long, beautiful and evolving relationship together, so please get to know the product first.

The Healing never stops!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

I’m in my tenth month of using the Wonderbar and I have noticed something very interesting.  I get little mini “healing crises” about once a month.  At first I had no idea what was going on and I just had this thin layer of dry skin all over my face and neck.  That was a few months back and I think I even blogged about it.  One day I took a baby washcloth and gently buffed my face and not only was it gone, but my skin looked even better than before (and it was SO soft!).

Gently remove dry skin after applying the Wonderbar....

Gently remove dry skin after applying the Wonderbar....

Now I think I have it figured out…….the bar never quits working and healing your skin, so you will continue to have these healing episodes as long as you are using the bar.  The great news is they go away with a little gentle buffing AND they are not anything like the first one.  The better news is that your skin continues to improve the longer you use the bar.

It is really a product you have to get to know as you are using it.  Which moisturizer is best for  you, can you sleep in it or not, which make-ups cause irritation, etc.  These are all questions that most people I ask have a different answer for.  Everyone is different and people’s reactions to the bar are very different.

The one thing that seems to be consistent is that people love it if they use it correctly and consistently.

The Wonderbar and Mineral powder or make-up…

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Not a good idea!  Any kind of mineral powder or make-up can clog your pores.  If you are using the Wonderbar and your skin has toxins beneath the surface that need to come out, do not put mineral products on top.  They will keep your pores clogged and the Wonderbar will try to bring them out and that equals infection!

The best way to use the Wonderbar is with a plain moisturizer and nothing else.  If you have a lot of toxins coming out in the form of pimples that you want to cover up, try using a tinted benzoyl peroxide instead of make-up.  The goal is to get to the place where you don’t need a lot of powder or make-up.  The Wonderbar will get you on your way!
