Would you train for a marathon and stop at 13 miles because you got a cramp?

MarathonNewYorkJpeg

No, because that would be a waste of time.  But it’s the same thing as giving up on the Wonderbar at three weeks!  You are throwing your money away, not to mention denying yourself the gift of healthy skin.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard, “I’m dry, should I quit using this?” or “I’m broken out.  Does this mean I’m allergic?”  The answer to both would be no.  This is a process and it takes time.  People who give up at three weeks are misunderstanding what the Wonderbar is and what it does.  I understand that it can be uncomfortable and less than ideal to break out and get dry, but if you want to get the toxins out and heal your skin, then you have to run the marathon.

I have a friend who recently bought a Wonderbar.  She is a skeptic, it’s okay- I knew she would come around.  Anyway, she understood the product before she started.  I’d describe her as mentally prepared.  Mainly because she spent the weekend with me at the beach and listened to me talk to clients about the healing crisis the whole time.  So, when she got her first “cyst” five days in, she was so excited.  I got this voicemail and it said, “Guess what???? It’s working!!  I have a big pimple on my forehead and I’m so excited!!”.  I was immediately worried she would quit- some people do.  However, she hung in there like a champ and I have to tell you in all honesty, she has never looked better.  Her skin is even, balanced and the bumps and redness that have been there since college are gone.

Regarding that dryness people feel…..they tend to think immediately that it is a bad “dry”.  Like a soap “dry”.  Just to reassure you, it is not.  It is a good “dry”.  A healing“dry”, and necessary to the process I might add.  If you scraped your knee and it was red and raw, what would happen next?  It would get dry and itchy?  Then would it get darker and maybe turn into a scab?  Then it would come off and what might be underneath it all??  New skin would be underneath it all and the old damaged skin would be gone…….this is the healing process.  You can get dry patches with the Wonderbar and they can even turn a little brownish, right before they come off!  This would be an extreme healing crisis, but it happens occasionally and right where it needs to.  It happened to me on my neck and it only took 13 days for me to see healthy skin underneath…..others simply describe a tightness and dryness that subsides as their skin begins to find the perfect balance.

So hang in there, you are not alone.  There are hundreds of other faces running this marathon with you, but in this case, it doesn’t matter who gets to the finish line first……only matters that you get there!

Skin looks great, but certain areas feel like sandpaper!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: I have been using the Wonderbar for several months and I love it.  My question after going through the “healing phase” and loving the results is:  Why does my neck feel rough all of a sudden, almost like sandpaper!

ANSWER:  We posted a question recently on the importance of NOT exfoliating during the initial dry phase that the Wonderbar can bring on.  This is because the skin is not ready to come off yet and you can tell this by the redness that accompanies the dryness in the first 2-3 weeks.  However, if you have already gone through the redness and dryness that the “Healing Phase” can bring on, and you have been using the bar for a while, try taking a warm wash cloth and gently exfoliating any area that has accumulated dead skin cells.  You might need to do this on occasion, as the Wonderbar continues to encourage cell turnover at a faster rate than normal, so that top layer can get ahead of you.  For this reason, occasional mechanical exfoliation will work beautifully…AFTER you have fully adjusted to the bar and only AFTER the redness has gone completely away.  We have heard from our clients that the Clarisonic brush also amps up the results of the Wonderbar when used once a week or so.

Is the Wonderbar safe around the eyes?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: Can one put the Wonderbar around the eye area?

ANSWER: I do use the bar around my eye area.  You could potentially get dry patches that will eventually come off with consistency.  This is the healing crisis and you do get through it.  I have some clients who don’t use it around their eyes because they don’t want that fragile area to get too dry, but it’s up to you.  Also, keep in mind that not everyone goes through a healing crisis so you could try it around your eyes and see how it feels.  I hope that answers your question……you just have to experiment because people react differently.

Am I allergic to the Wonderbar?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: The first couple of days I used the bar it was greeeeeeat, but after about the 4th day my skin got kind of stingy and dry all over and seems to be breaking out when I don’t usually break out… I seem to have developed eczema on my face too!   I read about the “Healing Crisis”, and I just wondered if that extreme of a reaction is normal?  How long does it usually last, or do you think I might be allergic to it?

ANSWER: I went through the “Healing Crisis” myself.  Everything you are describing is typical and this is the part where you really need to make sure you stay consistent.  The algae in the bar is making your skin dry.  Make sure you are not using ANY other products with added chemicals, fragrances or chemical spf.  That will really irritate your skin and actually counteract the bar’s benefits.  It took two and a half weeks exactly for me to get through.  It didn’t stay red the whole time, though.  It stayed dry, but you couldn’t really see it, only feel it.  Then one day, I woke up and it was like new skin underneath the dry patches, which looked like eczema.  The breakout will also clear with consistency, it can come with the dryness.

Also, some people can sleep in the Wonderbar, some people only need to use it once a day.  A little facial oil or natural moisturizer can help.  You can even use aloe vera.
Call me if you need to, I am happy to talk to you.  Almost every person who sends me an email like this sends another one just a few days later saying it all worked out.  Hang in there and you’ll be very happy with your results.

Is this the “Healing Phase”?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: Okay, so I am still using the bar as directed, at first, no break outs and my skin was looking nice. Now 3 weeks later, my skin is very dry and I keep having blemishes pop up.  I am so crazy because even though your instructional letter told me this, I’m a little panicked because my skin looks…not so bueno, but I just want your affirmation that this is part of the process—-even though I’m 3-4 weeks into using it.

ANSWER:  First, let me confirm that you are using all natural products that are non-toxic and chemical-free. To find out, you can check out www.cosmeticsdatabase.com and do a search for a specific product or ingredient.  Second, I can tell you that most likely you are simply experiencing the dry phase that can occur in the first few weeks of using the bar.  The best thing to do is to be consistent and use a facial oil or moisturizer as needed for dryness.  My personal experience began on a Tuesday using the Wonderbar on my neck every morning and night, ocassionally even sleeping in it. The dryness came on pretty quickly and I just kept using it. It became red, scaly, irritated and it stung; almost looked like rope burns. I kept using the bar with NO moisturizer and 16 days later, it was gone and my skin felt and looked fresh and balanced. SO, my advice to you is hang in there. Do not try to exfoliate or scrub this dry skin off.  It will come off when it’s ready.  Also, don’t hesitate to email us if you need more info……we can always help you assess whether or not what you are experiencing is normal.

Are brown, dry patches normal?

During the "Healing Crisis"

During the healing phase....

after tlm 2

After the healing phase...

QUESTION:  After about two weeks into using the WONDERBAR…I have brown dry patches like burns…I thought it looked like I had rope burns. Also, I am breaking out more than I usually do..is this normal?

ANSWER: This is very normal. Some may think the product is not working for them just because of excessive dryness, redness or stinging. When in fact those are signs that it is working. Because the Wonderbar is working on healing the skin, and the cells are turning over at a faster rate than normal, the above mentioned conditions can and sometimes do occur. Using an all natural moisturizer or oil is okay to help ease the effects of this dry phase, just be sure to use what you feel is appropriate.  If your skin feels balanced, there might not be a need for an additional moisturizer.  Also, if breakouts continue after around the three week mark, you might want to look at the products you are using with the bar, as any breakouts should have subsided at this point.  One last thing, when dry patches on face or neck turn brownish in color, this signals the end of the dryness and the beginning of super soft, balanced skin!

If a person truly understands what the bar does as compared to other skincare products out there, they will not mind the dryness that can occur. In our experience, after thousands of clients, 2-3 weeks is the average amount of time one should feel dry, provided the person does not stop using the bar. It is important to stay consistent so you can really see the benefits of the bar. It is also OK to scale back to once per day, if you feel that is what your skin needs.

For someone experiencing extreme dryness or breakouts, which is rare, we have suggested Neosporin and/or Aquaphor for the dryness.  As for the breakouts, as mentioned above, make sure you are not using any products that are incompatible with the bar.  All natural, 100% pure moisturizers and oils devoid of chemicals and fragrances will get you the best results when using the Wonderbar!  Let’s hear it for healthy skin!!
