To the Wonderful Wonderbar! This bar marks the spot…

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

The Wonderbar is known for its anti-inflammatory, healing properties.  People who have struggled with acne for years will tell you that the Wonderbar helps reduce the incidence of acne and on the rare occasion that something crops up, it heals it quickly and so that it leaves no scarring.  This makes Wonderbar the perfect go-to solution for those critical times when an unsightly blemish decides to appear the day before a big party or event.  Use your Wonderbar to spot treat!  And don’t forget the golden rule:  DO NOT PICK YOUR FACE!  Simply apply a warm washcloth to the affected area, apply the Wonderbar’s lather directly on the spot and leave it.  This can be done day or night.

If the Wonderbar has helped you in ways that were unexpected, please share your story!  It never ceases to amaze even us!

2 Common Causes of Acne…MILK and SUGAR
Mark Hyman

March 24

IT’S CONFIRMED. DAIRY PRODUCTS AND SUGAR CAUSE ACNE.

As our sugar and dairy consumption has increased over the last 100 years so has the number of people with acne. We now have over 17 million acne sufferers, costing our health care system $1 billion a year. Eighty to ninety percent of teenagers suffer acne to varying degrees. The pimply millions rely on infomercial products hawked by celebrities or over-the-counter lotions, cleansers, and topical remedies. Recent research suggests that it’s not what we slather on our skin that matters most but what we put in our mouth.

Many have suggested a diet-acne link, but until recently it has not been proven in large clinical studies. Instead dermatologists prescribe long-term antibiotics and Accutane, both of which may cause long-term harmful effects. In 2009, a systematic review of 21 observational studies and six clinical trials found clear links. Two large controlled trials found that cow’s milk increased both the number of people who got acne and its severity. Other large randomized prospective controlled trials (the gold standard of medical research) found that people who had higher sugar intake and a high glycemic load diet (more bread, rice, cereal, pasta, sugar, and flour products of all kinds) had significantly more acne. The good news is that chocolate (dark chocolate that is) didn’t seem to cause acne…

Wonderbar to the rescue for acne on the back!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Or…‘Bacne’, which is another way to say back acne or body acne. It tends to form on the back, upper arms and the buttocks and can take several forms: pimples, blackheads, pustules and cysts, which are painful and form deep under the skin’s surface.

“Back acne tends to occur around puberty when the sebaceous glands, which produce sebum, start functioning. When too much sebum is produced, pores and hair follicles can become clogged, attracting bacteria. This can lead to acne.”  Dermatologists will prescribe various topical treatments such as tetracycline, Minocycline, Retin-A, Benzoyl peroxide, etc.  The Wonderbar is more cost effective and based on what we hear from our customers, more effective all-together.

For a quick and easy way to manage the “bacne”, try putting a layer of the Wonderbar on clean, dry skin after getting out of the shower.  The skin on your back and other body parts is not as fragile, so we recommend that you sleep in the Wonderbar.  Your skin can get dry in the beginning, just as it does on your face, but it will pass and soon you will find yourself “bacne” free!

How to Prevent Back Acne

Exfoliation is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells that tend to build up on the back, buttocks and back of the arms. Use a sugar scrub (milder than salt scrubs) in the shower on a weekly basis.

Sephora’s nine “Best Sellers” in skincare all add up in their abilities to….well….ONE little Wondrous-bar!

The nine “top-selling” skincare products on the Sephora website claim to each do one or more of the following things:

fade pigmentation, shrink pores, improve clarity, treat acne, control oil and blemishes, improve appearance of age-related skin issues, reduce stretch marks, restore elasticity, firm and tone skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, moisturize, conquer skin damage……

They might do some of these things, but NONE of them do it all at the same time.  Which means of course that you aren’t getting out the door without two, three or even four products!  That is actually fine for some, people do like products.  The problem comes in when they spend a lot of time and money and ultimately don’t get the results they are expecting.  At least this is what I’m hearing from our clients.

Also, on the Sephora website, they have a list of ten areas of concern for the face, which can each be clicked on to show multiple product solutions for each area of concern.  They are as follows:

Enlarged blackheads and pores, breakouts and acne, dryness, oiliness, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and uneven texture, loss of elasticity, redness/ rosacea and sun protection!

Hmmmm, that’s all sounding a little familiar…almost exactly like the Wonderbar, which addresses NINE out of ten of them!  The tenth is sun protection and we just don’t do that- but a simple, effective sun block is easy to find.  SO, you can choose from HUNDREDS of products which may or may not address one or two concerns each, OR you can just buy a Wonderbar and an all-natural moisturizer or sun block and call it a day.

For now, let’s keep it between us that the Wonderbar is also a shampoo and scalp equalizer on top of everything else, we do NOT want to sound like we’re bragging! ;-)

From your head all the way down…to your TOE!

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The thing is, I am a runner.  I don’t go crazy with it, but I do run around 9 miles per week.  I began to develop this this issue with my large toe.  It was red, swollen and painful and it got worse over the course of about one month.  TO the point that my shoe was hurting me and it was too uncomfortable to run.  I almost wanted to blame it on my ill-fitting wedges that I wore meandering around NYC, but I’ll never know for sure.

SO….because I am aware that people use the Wonderbar for many different types of issues, I decided to try it out on my toe.  I rubbed a little on the side of my toe TWICE.  It completely went away in two days and even when I pushed on the spot where it was so painful, I can’t feel it anymore.  It really seemed to reduce the inflammation and heal my skin.  I don’t know what it was, but it doesn’t matter because it’s GONE.

If you have any skin conditions that you want to get rid of , try it.  Take a picture first and then use the Wonderbar.  If it works and you provide us with before and after pictures, we will send a Wonderbar to you- on us!  We are always hearing new stories about this little miracle-worker…and we can use those stories to help others!

The perfect alternative to Accutane and other acne “drugs”

Accutane can have harsh side effects..

Accutane can have harsh side effects..

I have several clients who have teenagers who have battled acne….it can be so humiliating and their self-images take such a hit.  Many moms don’t feel good about putting their kids on Accutane because of the harsh side effects.

In the past few months, we are seeing the Wonderbar work really well on teenage and “college-age” acne.   I am not only hearing this from clients, but am also experiencing it.  I have seen two big transformations in my own family.  My niece and nephew both had trouble with terrible acne.  My sister did not want to risk using anything new because she knew how traumatizing it could be if things got out of control.  Well, she finally tried it.  I wish I had pictures, but I don’t.  My niece has the most beautiful, flawless skin now.  My nephew is well on his way, but he does not sleep in the Wonderbar like his sister does.  You can tell a huge difference with him anyway.

Try the Wonderbar on your teenager or give a Wonderbar to someone young who struggles with acne……it can make a huge difference in their life.

I’m just beginning to use the Wonderbar, what can I use to spot treat my acne?

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

QUESTION: I know certain products are too much with the Wonderbar and I wanted to see if Benzoyl Peroxide was one of them. I currently use BP to treat my acne and was hoping I could use the two together.  If not, which other products can I use to spot treat my hormonal acne?

ANSWER: Great question. I got feedback from our manufacturer and, in fact, you can use BP and the Wonderbar at the same time.  This will cause some extra dryness, but could help speed up the healing of your acne.  Another option is to simply use the Wonderbar!  Get the Wonderbar a little wet and just dab your finger to apply directly to the spot you want treated!  You can sleep in it that way or leave it on during the day…it dries invisible, so it will go unnoticed!  We hear from our customers all the time that they rarely get acne while using the Wonderbar, and if they do, it only lasts a day or so!

Can I use Accutane with the Wonderbar?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

QUESTION: Can I use Accutane with the Wonderbar?

ANSWER: Yes. Anyone who is on Accutane, Roaccutane, Acnotin or any similar drug will experience extreme dryness on lips, skin and all over body because the drug itself is extremely drying!

As long as you are taking the drugs according to a prescription, we don’t advise against using them alongside the Wonderbar. These drugs definitely work if used properly. The only thing is that you have to monitor the level of toxins in your blood from time to time while using them.

Using the Wonderbar while taking Accutane will cause even further dryness & peeling. But the effectiveness of the bar is expedited!! You can literally see it working. As long as one can stand the extreme dryness while on the Accutane, then it is fine. A good lip balm and moisturizer will come in handy at all times.  Aquafor works well too.
