- I just got my Wonderbar and I can’t believe how
small it is! Did I get the right size?
- I am on the Obagi system in conjunction with
RetinA right now and still experiencing bad break outs. It seems to be
a hormonal deal. How long do I need to stop the hydroquinone/retinA
before I can start Wonderbar?
- Does everyone go through a Healing Crisis?
- Is the Wonderbar a soap?
- No, in fact its pH-balance level is around 5.65 which
sets it apart from soap. The pH of normal, healthy human skin is
between 4.5 and 6.
- Is it ok to use the Wonderbar during
pregnancy?
- Absolutely! The Wonderbar is so safe it can be used on
a baby. This makes it a wonderful alternative to products like Retin-A,
which is not recommended during pregnancy due to possible risks.
- Is it ok to use Sunscreen with the
Wonderbar?
- Yes, you absolutely can and SHOULD use a physical sun block (with the active ingredients zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide), as opposed to a chemical sunscreen.
- Can one use Accutane with the
Wonderbar?
- Yes. Anyone who is on Accutane, Roaccutane, Acnotin or
any similar drug will experience extreme dryness on lips, skin and all
over body because the drug itself is extremely drying! As long as you
are taking the drugs according to a prescription, we don’t advise
against it. These drugs definitely work if used properly. The only
thing is that they are toxic and you have to monitor the level of
toxins in your blood from time to time. Using the Wonderbar while
taking Accutane will cause even further dryness & peeling. But the
effectiveness of the bar is expedited!! As long as one can stand the
extreme dryness while on the Accutane, then it is fine. A good lip balm
and moisturizer will come in handy at all times.
- What is DLSS (Disodium Lauryl
Sulfosuccinate)? Is it similar to SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)?
- DLSS found in the Wonderbar is rated as least hazardous
by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) database which has been
maintained since 2004. Details of the methodology and reviews conducted
can be found on the EWG website. DLS is easily differentiated from SLS,
as it tends to produce a much thinner lather while cleaning just as
well. Note: for details of Skin Deep hazard rating, please refer to the
website. The higher the number indicates greater potential hazard.
- Where does the Wonderbar originate?
- All of its ingredients are sourced from different parts of Europe and it is manufactured in Malaysia.
- Does the Wonderbar suit all skin types?
- Yes! Dry skin, Oily skin, Normal skin, Dark skin, Light
skin, Sensitive skin, Skin with allergies, and even people who suffer
from Psoriasis, Eczema, Rosacea, Acne…etc. The Wonderbar brings skin
back to its normal, balanced state.
- What is a Healing Crisis?
- It is a period of “discomfort” during the balancing,
detoxification and healing process. What happens is excessive amounts
of toxins are being discharged directly through the skin organs causing
the surface of the skin to have reactions such as excessive dryness,
boils, pimples, rashes, itchiness, mild peeling, flakiness, redness,
discomfort, uneven skin, dark marks, breakouts…etc. People who don’t
understand this may misinterpret these conditions as the product not
being suitable for their skin. When in fact these symptoms indicate
that the Wonderbar is working! All the toxins need to be flushed out
before the product can effectively heal the skin and bring it back to
balance. One has to be prepared for the healing crisis. No matter what
happens, consistency & perseverance is KEY! As they say, “NO PAIN..
NO GAIN..!” Ultimately when this period is over, one shall reveal a
much more healthier & radiant skin. Using gentle moisturizers may
help in minimizing the effects of the healing crisis. But using too
much moisturizer may delay the process of the healing crisis.
Ultimately, once the healing crisis has passed, one does not need to be
using moisturizers anymore! Do NOT use moisturizers containing
AHAs, BHAs, Salicylic Acids, chemical SPF, etc. Also, do not use mineral powders that are “buffed” in to your skin.
- Can the Healing Crisis occur more than
once?
- Rarely but yes, sometimes toxins are trapped in a much
deeper layer of the skin which may take a longer time to be flushed out
thru the surface of the skin. This may cause the healing crisis to
happen in stages. Rest assured that the effects are lessened as your
skin is being detoxified.
- Can the Wonderbar be used for life?
- Yes, great question. It is meant to be used for life
and unlike some other treatments for your skin, it is non-toxic so you
can feel comfortable. The longer you use it, the better your skin gets.
- Which make-up is best to use with
the Wonderbar?
- Try a light, oil-free foundation if you do not want to
go without. A loose powder dusted lightly over your skin works fine as
well. Also, the longer you use the Wonderbar, the less you will need
the foundation and powder.
- Is this a vegan product and do you do
any animal testing?
- Yes, this product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
- Which products are not compatible
with the Wonderbar?
- Retinol based products, products containing AHA’s,
some mineral powders and products containing chemical SPF.
- What can happen if you use the
Wonderbar with Mineral Powder?
- When you try to use the Wonderbar with Mineral Powder,
the bar tries to pull the toxins out, while the powder plugs your
pores. This results in big infections right underneath the surface of
the skin.
- Which moisturizers work best with the
Wonderbar?
- Anything that is very plain. We like CeraVe Cream in a tub,
Clinique Moisture Surge and Dramatically Different and Kiehl’s
UltraFacial. However, there are many great plain ones and if you find one you love, please share it with us!
- Can I use my vitamin serums with the
Wonderbar?
- Yes! In fact, they absorb into your skin better because
the Wonderbar acts as an incredible skin decongestant and exfoliant! Also, theyprovide extra UV protection underneath your sun block.
- Can I use the Clarisonic with the
Wonderbar?
- It is not necessary in the beginning and you would probably be wasting
precious wonderbar in that brush….however, after you are completely
adjusted to the bar, it is normal to get a thin layer of rough skin on
your face and neck……which means your skin is continuing to heal, so theclarisonic might be useful for that once a month or so…stay away from harsh exfoliants until you are fully adjusted to the Wonderbar!
- Do I apply the Wonderbar to a wet
face or a dry
face?
- It works either way. To avoid the Wonderbar getting
into your eyes, it might be easier to lather it in your hands to a
lotion-like consistency and apply to a dry face.
- Should I use a cleanser before I use
the Wonderbar
for can I just use the Wonderbar as my cleanser?
- The Wonderbar is a great cleanser too, so we recommend you use it that way to remove any makeup, rinse and then reapply for the recommended 3-5 minutes.
- Can I sleep in the Wonderbar?
- Yes, but only if your skin has adjusted. If things get
uncomfortable, scale back to twice daily for 3-5 minutes.
- How do I apply the Wonderbar when
used as a shampoo?
- You can apply it directly to the dry scalp and let sit
for 3-5 minutes and then rinse off in the shower. It will go through
your hair when you rinse and make it shiny!
- Is it safe to use the Wonderbar on my
child who has eczema?
- Yes, we have many clients who have successfully treated
their children’s eczema with the Wonderbar and are thrilled with the
results!
- Can I put the Wonderbar close around
my eyes?
- You can, but the healing phase might be a bit more
uncomfortable because the skin in that area is so thin. It does pass,
though and it is safe!
- Will the Wonderbar work on other
parts of the body?
- Absolutely! Skin is skin…
- Does the Wonderbar contain Gluten?
- We are told “no” by our manufacturer. The level of the wheat starch is low enough to be considered gluten-free. The first line of ingredients is put into the bar singularly as a paste, making the 2nd ingredient Heilmoor Clay.
- I am in crisis and it’s been longer
than six weeks, why could this be?
- There are several reasons. One is that maybe you have
severely damaged skin and lots of toxins that need to come out. A
second reason could be because of the use of mineral powders, heavy
makeup, products containing SPF, AHA, Retinoids, or chemicals that are incompatible with the bar.
- Is it normal to get redder in the
areas that I had rosacea?
- Yes! It is your skin healing in all of the right
places! This is true of any damaged skin on your face, and they will be
the driest parts during the healing phase.
- What are the ingredients of the
Wonderbar?
- pH-Balanced Binder (Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Coco-Sulfate,Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Starch, 1-Octadecanol, Paraffin, C17789), Heilmoor Clay, Water, Glycerin, Chlorey’nahre (CLO),
Polyglucuronic Acid, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Chamonilla Matricaria
(Chamomile) Extract.
- What is Eumora and how is it
different than the Wonderbar?
- It is made by the same manufacturer, with similar
ingredients, but a different composition. The Wonderbar is an improved
and more effective version of Eumora.
- Will Wonderbar make my skin more
sensitive to the sun?
- No, not at all. Always be sure to wear a good physical
sunblock during the day, though.
- I have been using the Wonderbar for
less than a
week, why am I so dry?
- You are healing, so it is not the kind of “dry” you get
with soap, but a good “dry” that comes when your skin heals and it will pass with continued use.
- I just got my Wonderbar and I can’t
believe how
small it is! Did I get the right size?
- You most likely did! It looks like a bar of hotel soap!
However, it is not soap, so you cannot compare the two. While it is
true that the mini bar looks like it would last five minutes, which it
might if it were truly a “soap”, it actually lasts 6-8 weeks.
- I am on the Obagi system in
conjunction with RetinA right now and still experiencing bad break outs. It seems to be a hormonal deal. How long do I need to stop the hydroquinone/retinA before I can start Wonderbar?
- No time at all…I was on Obagi when I started the
Wonderbar too and I didn’t even wait a day! Just be sure not to
continue on during the use of the Wonderbar.
- Does everyone go through a Healing
Phase?
- No, some don’t at all. Some do. The healing phase
period may vary from person to person. It could take as quickly as only
a few days, or at most six weeks. The good news is, the Healing Phase
is a good thing! You are on your way to a more radiant, healthier
skin…but do not be deceived! Great looking skin may not always mean
healthy skin. There may be a ton of trapped toxins just waiting to be
flushed out. Leaving these harmful toxins in the body may cause other
problems in the long run.
